Hi! My name is Betsy and I am multimedia artist, graphic designer and an aspiring art educator currently located out of Detroit. I am a midwestern girl at my core and I graduated in May 2021 from the University of Michigan with a B.F.A in Graphic Design as well as minors in Sustainability and Gender & Health. Outside of art and design, I love to hike and camp, play volleyball, go swimming, play the piano and ukulele and hang out with my dog (her name is Junebug, she is standing next to me in the picture on the left and I know that I am biased but she is the best dog in the entire world.)

Exploring different mediums and techniques is something I do a lot in my artistic practice and I also try to always work both analog and digitally on any project I take on, I believe this helps to make pieces especially dynamic. I believe that good Art & Design can have a really profound impact on our communities and has the potential to create more inclusive and empathetic citizens. People desire not only aesthetic beauty but to have their needs met and design can be an amazing way to achieve these goals.

The first creative practice I truly fell in love with was painting and along with doing commissions for individuals, I have done a few murals as well! My long term goals are to be a practicing designer as well as an arts educator because I believe that the arts are essential to a child’s emotional and intellectual development. I have a passion for social justice, specifically racial & gender equality, mental health and LGBTQ+ rights which I try to reflect in some of my work as well as my life outside of the Art & Design field. I hope y’all enjoy my work!
